Math Last week - We continued learning about input/output tables. Students looked at tables and determined the number pattern. This week - Students will continue working on input/output tables. This time, they will need to evaluate expressions. For example, complete the table for 3n + 1 if n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. Students will substitute the number for the variable and solve the expression. We will also start looking at how we can graph the input/output tables. Students will practice labelling the x and y axis. Homework: Students in Ms. Pond's class need to finish the input/output tables assigned Science Last week - Students were given 25 straws, 15 paper clips and 60 cms of masking tape and in groups, were challenged to make a bridge 30 cms long that a golf ball could travel across. They needed to plan and use their scientific knowledge such as the strongest shape in nature and real life bridge designs. This week - Students will be completing the good copy of their bridge blueprint. Groups will be testing their bridges to see if the golfball will pass over the bridge at least 3 out of 5 trials. We will be starting Topic 1: Types of Structures in the Structures and Forces unit. The new vocabulary students will be learning include: structures, function, forces, load, natural and manufactured structures, design, mass, frame and shell structures. Science Fair: Please note that students will need a log book next Friday.
