Math Last Week: Students have been working on adding fractions with like and unlike denominators. Students are learning several techniques for solving fraction equations including using fraction strips, pattern blocks and figuring out the LCM. Next Week: We will be using the same techniques but with subtraction. Homework: Students from 7D and 7E need to bring in all quizzes signed: Circumference, Parallelograms and Planet Earth quiz. Science Last Week: Students have been exploring Heat and Temperature - we have started looking at the Particle Model of Matter. Next Week: Students in 7A, B and C will be doing expansion and contraction labs. Students in 7D and 7E will be building their energy efficient homes. Homework: Students from 7D and 7E will be starting their “Efficiency Home” project on Tuesday, May 22nd. They need to bring in all supplies on Tuesday. The following Tuesday, May 29th, they will present their model homes, pamphlet and blueprint to their classmates.

Math: Last Week: Students worked on the area of a circle. Ms. Heck and Ms. Rudolph's classes were working on the circle art assignment. This Week: We will be looking at interpreting circle graphs and drawing circle graphs. Check out the video. Homework: 7A, B and C circle art due on Monday, May 7th (track students need to hand this in BEFORE they leave!) . 4.6 also due for 7A. Science: Last Week: Classes are wrapping up the Planet Earth Unit. Some classes watched a Bill Nye video introducing Heat and Temperature. This Week: We will be starting Heat and Temperature. Students will begin with stations. Homework: Ms. Pond's classes will have a Planet Earth Unit Final on Thursday, May 9th. Debate: This afternoon, students not attending the track meet will be preparing a debate on various topics including climate change, marijuana legalization and gun control.
