Last Week: Students were working with base 10 blocks and grid paper to multiply decimals. This Week: Students in 7B and 7C will be writing a quiz on 3.3 and 3.4 - front end estimation, adding and subtracting decimals, and multiplying decimals. Extra practice sheets are available on the Jan.22nd blog. Homework: 7D and 7E - correcting multiplying decimals using base ten blocks and grid paper sheet due! 7C AND 7B - math quizzes signed and returned ***PLEASE BRING IN FLYERS FOR OUR NEXT ACTIVITY! Science Last Week - Students began the unit "Planet Earth". In groups, they created a placemat with information from each of the 10 topics. In their groups, they shared this information This Week: Students will be looking at how to identify minerals. Homework: 7D and 7E - Rock Cycle Assignment - Students need to think about the written component of their rock cycle. They can choose between comic strip, newspaper article, short story (Magic School bus) and the music component. Please choose a type of genre of song for Monday.

Last Week: Classes have been working on adding and subtracting decimals. Students can look at extra practice sheet 3.3 from an earlier blog for more practice. This Week: Students will continue their work with adding and subtracting decimals. Some classes will be starting multiplying decimals. Homework: Students in 7D and 7E will be writing the 3.1 and 3.2 quiz on Tuesday, Feb. 13th . Science: Last Week: Students have been finishing up their portraits, working on water/carbon cycles and succession. This Week: Classes will be wrapping up the Interactions and Ecosystems unit. We will be looking at endangered/extinct species, biological control and introduced species. Our next unit is Planet Earth. Science Fair: Congratulations to all of the science fair groups and individuals who will be representing Nose Creek at cities! Other News: PLEASE RETURN YOUR HITMEN FORMS!! Math Last Week: Students worked on converting between decimals, fractions and percents. They continue to work on making equivalent fractions, ordering decimals and fractions on a number line, finding numbers in between on a number line and determining greater than or less than. This Week: 7D and 7E will be beginning 3.2 (ordering and comparing fractions and decimals on a number line) 7B and 7C will do a review of 3.1 and 3.2 on Monday and have a quiz on Tuesday. Coming up: adding and subtracting decimals! Homework: 7B and 7C have a practice quiz sheet due Monday, Feb.5th. Science Last Week: Students in 7A, 7D and 7E finished their Portraits of an Ecosystem. 7C and 7B learned about the water cycle, carbon cycle and bioaccumulation. Ask your child about this quote: "All the water on the planet today, every single drop, is all the water there has ever been". This Week: Teachers will be evaluating students on their portrait of an ecosystem projects. Coming up: Succession! Homework: All classes should be finished their outlines and portraits. Students should be ready to present the information on their portrait and should review the information. Science Fair: Students will find out next week about science fair results. These groups will then start preparing for the city competition in April! |
