Math Last week: We continued working on graphing. Students need to remember to label their input and output, as well as put a title on their graphs. We also practiced reading and writing equations. Students should be able to explain the difference between an expression and an equation. Students were given algebra tiles and showed equations using the tiles. Many enjoyed this way of visually representing the equations. Next week: Classes will review the concepts mentioned above. On Monday and Tuesday we will be reviewing for a quiz on Wednesday, November 1st. The topics will include: graphing input and output tables, reading and writing equations and algebra tiles. There is an extra practice sheet attached below. On Thursday, we will begin unit 2: Integers. Students will begin identifying what an integer is and how they are used.

Last Week: Students learned several interesting concepts on our Bridges tour! These include different types of forces like tension and compression. We talked about margin of safety and of course, different styles of bridges. Next week: We will be looking at the differences between mass and weight. Students will complete activities around this concept. On Thursday, Nov.2nd, there will be a quiz on Topics 1-3 of Structures and Forces unit. Students should review the following: - manufactured and man made structures - force, load, function - shell, mass and frame design - 5 design factors: safety, function, aesthetics, materials and joints - types of joints - mass vs weight
