In photography now, whenever you take a picture, you need to explain that picture to me. Why is it important? What does it mean to you? Did you follow the rule of thirds? Did you think about the background and lighting? What about those things make this a good picture?
Here is my example, using the picture at the top of the page: I took this picture because I thought the landscape was very interesting because you are at the top of a giant volcano and you are above the clouds, looking over the edge. It looks like you are at the edge of the world. I think this is interesting because it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something important, that they rest of the world doesn't exist. I think they are good photos because they follow the rule of thirds. My horizon line is on the top third and that draws attention to the flowers and road. I also think the brightness of the photo adds to the happy feeling.

Your next task in photography is to take an abstract art photograph. Abstract art is usually seen in paintings where there is shape, texture, lines and colour. The meaning may be unclear to the viewer, but the images should provoke an emotional response. You will create abstract art using those same elements in photography. LINE, SHAPE, TEXTURE and COLOUR. |
