Last week - Students continued working on graphing input/output tables. They worked on using the correct increments, labelling their graphs and interpreting the graphs.
Next week - We will be working on reading and writing equations. We will also introduce algebra tiles to the students and they will work on using algebra tiles to show equations. This corresponds to 1.7 and 1.8 in the booklet.
Last week - Students enjoyed using the 5 design factors to create their shoes. The Grade 6 students enjoyed evaluating the Grade 7's shoes using a checklist and asking questions. Each class chose their top designers and then the teachers will choose a top designer from those.
Next week - We will be preparing for our bridges field trip by examining the following terms: tension, compression and arch, cantilever, cable stay, truss, beam, brace bridges. Students will be completing an assignment on the field trip that will be assessed. One class has finished the materials scavenger hunt and the others will finish this next week. They will be searching the school for a variety of materials such as composite, layered, joints, adhesive, wood, concrete, etc.
Homework: Ms. Rudolph's science classes (7B and 7C) have a sheet to be completed for Monday. They had time to work on this during class, but some students did not finish. The textbook link is on this blog!
On Wednesday we will be on our Bridges field trip! This field trip will take us from the Peace Bridge to the St. Patrick's Island Bridge with a stop in Eau Claire for lunch. Please ensure that students are dressed for the weather.
Science Fair: We are in our 4th week. Students conducting experiments/surveys involving other people must complete the Ethics and Due Care Form that needs to be signed by a parent. Please sign and return this asap so students can start gathering data.
