Last Week: All grade 7 students have started the Fractions, Decimal and Percent unit. We looked at the differences between terminating and repeating decimals, made a foldable that will help students convert between each and are starting to place numbers on a number line.
This week: Students will be placing fractions on a number line. We will be starting with fractions that have the same denominator, then moving to fractions with different denominators. Then we will be looking at a set of fractions, decimals and percents and students will have to determine how they can place them on a number line. This will correspond with activity 3.2 in the booklets.
***Remember there are extra practice sheets attached from last week.
Last Week: Students in 7B and 7C finished their portraits of an ecosystem. The other classes have a few finishing touches on them.
This Week: We will be moving on to water and carbon cycles. Students will be watching some videos and then will be recreating the water cycle in their visual journal using the following vocabulary: precipitation, evaporation, transpiration, condensation, run-off, and ground water. They will do the same for the carbon cycle and include the vocabulary: photosynthesis, fossil fuels, respiration, decomposition, carbon dioxide, burning of forests. We will also look at bioaccumulation.
Science Fair: Congratulations to all of the Grade 7 students for another successful science fair. The top projects chosen to go to cities will be announced this week! Stay tuned.....
