Today we talked about the importance of Orange Shirt Day and the lasting impacts of residential schools today. Please watch the videos if you were away today and if you were here, I've added more songs if you're interested.
Please make sure you have communicated with your group and have a plan in place to finish by the due date. The rubric is attached to the assignment in a previous blog post.
In case you've lost yours, PUT IT IN YOUR BINDER!!!
Today we will be starting a group research project investigating historical First Nations before European arrival.
We will go over the assignment in class today, here is the outline:
Today is your last time to work on your "I Am From" Poem Videos. They should be shared by the end of today. If you are not done, you need to arrange a time after school or at lunch to finish up.
As we work on our I am From poems, we will also start looking at Canada's history for Social Studies.
Today we will research the different theories and beliefs for how people came to be in North America. The document below explains the task for today.
Below you will find two examples of "I am from..." poems, templates for writing them and the assignment rubric. You are to create your own I am from poem and turn it into a video using images and voice recording. This is your first assignment so do your best!
You mostly have thinking homework this weekend! You need to quickly finish your map, to be checked on Monday, you should have had enough time in class.
You should also think about what the map at the back of the room (that shows where you, your parents and your grandparents are from) means for our Canadian identity.
Have a great weekend!
