Whoot! Whoot! Grade 7's will be participating in a reenactment of The Battle of the Plains of Abraham next week! In order to understand how this battle went down, there is some background information you need. If you were away today or missed some of the notes, here is a copy donated by a very kind student who wants to help you out! You will also be completing the assignment below over the next two days. Use 1759.ccbn-nbc.gc.ca/index_en.html for the first half. And bataille.ccbn-nbc.gc.ca/en/siege-de-quebec/quebec-cle-de-voute.php for the second. You will need to see your teacher for a regiment and role - discussed on Thursday and Friday. Today we edited your four paragraph essay in class. You self-edited and peer-edited, then you needed to hand in your good copy. You need an: - Introduction - 2 body paragraphs - Conclusion If you were unable to finish, you need to have that ready for tomorrow. Here is an example of an introduction, body paragraph plans (you will have these written into paragraphs) and a conclusion. The introduction tells the reader a little bit about the topic and some background information. You also need to state your answer to the question (shown in orange. The conclusion restates your argument and sums up what you have said in your body paragraphs. Today we worked on the rough copy if an essay you will be writing on whether or not social media is a good place to find information on and debate social and political issues. Use what we've already talked about in the debate and your answers from Monday. The rough copy needs to be done for Tuesday, when you will have time for peer editing and review. Also, HAVE AN AWESOME SUPER LONG WEEKEND WITH YOUR FAMILY!
Your social media posts are due tomorrow so we can make comments on peoples posts. The rubric is below. Next week we will have a debate that explores the question: "Is social media a good way to learn about and debate political and social issues."
We used your maps today to look at Acadia and the Great Deportation as one of the beginning events of the Seven Years War between France and England.
Here are the notes if you were away: www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/the-deportation-of-the-acadians-feature/ The map you started today needs to be done for tomorrow. Here is the one we put on the board to help with the last section.
